I am recruiting participants to take part in a research study examining the efficiency and effectiveness of using the PrivSet application. PrivSet application is an educational website (includes plug-in) that assist social networking sites’ users (SNSs) to understand, change, and find new updates of SNSs features and settings. You will be asked to apply a set of tasks (5 tasks) without using the PrivSet application and then with using the PrivSet application. Then, you will fill out a post-task questionnaire to investigate more usability measures such as ease of use, learnability, satisfaction, and usefulness. Lastly, a short semi-structured interview will be conducted to show the strengths and weaknesses of the PrivSet application. If you are currently using or have used Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram (all of them) and personally manage their settings and features, you are eligible to participate in this study. You will complete the experiments on the researcher’s devices, thus you do not need to bring your own devices. You will complete the tasks on accounts established for this study, thus you will not use your own accounts. I am looking for participants who are part of the general Â鶹Éç community or public including students, staff/faculty, and friends.
The study will be conducted in one of the meeting rooms, located in Goldberg Computer Science building (Â鶹Éç campus building) or in the Â鶹Éç libraries. You will first meet with the researcher to go over the study details and give consent to participate in the study. The participants’ comments or feedback will be audio and screen recorded. The session will take 60-90 minutes to complete. You will be compensated $10 for your participation in the study. If you are interested in participating, please contact Abdulhadi Alqarni (aalqarni@cs.dal.ca)
